REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - Oct 12, 2010 - Serena Software, Inc., the leader in orchestrated application development, IT and business processes, today announced that its founder and current board member, Douglas Troxel, has granted $5 million to his alma mater, Iowa State University. The capital grant, made through the Change Happens Foundation that Mr. Troxel leads, will fund the construction of a 400-seat auditorium that will provide a state-of-the-art learning environment for university science courses. The building will be named after Mr. Troxel, who graduated from Iowa State University in 1967 where he earned degrees in Mathematics and Physics.
The Change Happens Foundation is committed to helping motivated groups with pioneering research and projects that benefit humanity. The new auditorium, Troxel Hall, will expand the university's capacity to offer introductory-level courses in the sciences and social sciences, including physics and psychology. Construction is estimated to be completed in time for the start of fall semester classes in 2012.
"These are tremendously exciting times in the sciences, and we have the good fortune to propel new ideas right here at Iowa State University," said Douglas Troxel, President and CEO for Change Happens Foundation and Founder and Board Member for Serena Software. "Science innovation and higher education are a personal passion. I feel very grateful and fortunate that I am able to give back to my alma mater and the community that has given so much to me."
